The mayor of Granada, Francisco Cuenca, visited the Palacio de Deportes that is already being activated to be at the height of one of the largest sporting events in this country and thus host, starting next February 17, the celebration of the final phase of the King's Cup basketball.

As announced by the mayor, who was accompanied by the councilor for Sports, José Antonio Huertas, and the councilor delegate of Gegsa, Eduardo Castillo, the City Council is already working to meet the requirements of the ACB for holding an event of this category and, above all, "so that the investments made remain permanently in the city."

 

"This Palace is already a magnificent sports facility, but we want the economic investment that we are going to make to modernize and fine-tune it not only for this specific event, but to stay here forever," said Cuenca.

Upgrades
Specifically, the Palace will expand its capacity for some 2,500 new spectators through the installation of telescopic extra bleachers, part of which will already remain permanently in the facilities. Along with this, they will also improve the Palace's own infrastructures, which will have a central digital video scoreboard like the one already used by the best pavilions in the country.

Likewise, the City Council is also carrying out an improvement of the entire connectivity network in the Palace, modernizing the Wi-Fi and optical facilities to adapt them to the celebration of high intensity events and guarantee that the signal of everything that is happening can reach all corners of the world. Ultimately, it is about "having everything ready for one of the biggest sporting events in this country", making the task of the players and coaching staff of the participating teams, referees, organizing staff, etc., as easy as possible. also from the media in charge of covering the event and spreading the image of Granada to the whole world.
