E̶l̶s̶y̶d̶e̶o̶n̶ッ Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 The presentation of the new generation of the Range Rover has given much more, as the British brand has unveiled part of its cards for the future. However, the special event has revealed a real world first that will arrive before the middle of the decade. The electric Range Rover will become a reality. With much delay, but we started January 2017 with an exclusive: Land Rover was developing a range of electric models taking advantage of the Range Rover, more luxurious models and with a greater appeal to customers. While it is true that those plans were for a premiere in 2020, the circumstances of the brand and those occurred in the world more recently have not accompanied enough to become a reality. However, this exclusive that we announced almost five years ago, will be a reality in 2024. Gone are all the rumors, positive and unfavorable information and statements of the brand's managers in various interviews, because Land Rover has confirmed that we will see a fully electric Range Rover in 2024. The new model has been conceived on the so-called "MLA" platform, which allows the development of other more advanced propulsion options. The future Range Rover Electric will be the first zero-emission model, ahead of the long-rumored Road Rover, which was based on the cancelled Jaguar XJ. The first model of the purest sustainable mobility that represents the "Reimagine" strategy and that, for the first time in the British brand, will start from the most exclusive model in the Land Rover product range. A completely unprecedented version in the 50-year history of the Range Rover. A model that is already being developed by the firm, and very soon we should see the first prototypes performing the first road tests. We know that the engineering department, for some time, has special mules that have been tested in the vicinity of the manufacturer's own facilities in Solihull, UK, virtually unnoticed with the body of the fifth generation. Technically, the new MLA platform is a modular architecture adapted for electric cars, but not especially dedicated to this type of model. The structure allows two electric motors, one for each axle, and high power and all-wheel drive. Between the axles will be placed a battery that will offer a high useful capacity, with no less than 100 kWh, figures that Land Rover has not communicated and kept secret. What is certain is that the Range Rover will be electric by the middle of the decade.
