Thousands of people took to the streets of Glasgow, where COP26 is being held, to demand more radical action against climate change. The protest is part of a series of demonstrations that have been held in other cities, such as London. According to the participants, the UN negotiations have failed due to the lack of ambition when it comes to curbing global warming

"The power of the people is the only thing that seems to be changing public opinion or what governments are doing at all. You wouldn't see those gestures if it weren't for Greta, Extinction Rebellion and all the protests around the world. So we have to keep that pulse, "says one of the London protesters.

In Brussels, several activists from the Extinction Rebellion group fell to the ground in protest after one of their actions was canceled by the police. They intended to tow a boat to the gates of the Belgian Parliament, but the police arrested the driver. In Turkey, protesters gathered in Istanbul's main business district with banners, drums and slogans in defense of the environment.

"At the climate summit, targets have been set for 2050. But the energy transformation is very important; we want a close date for the exit of coal. It cannot be postponed any longer because every day we notice climate change more," says a Turkish protester .

At the Summit, the commitment of 45 countries to take measures to advance towards more natural and sustainable agriculture and soil management was announced, measures that will have a special impact on Latin America. Among the States that signed one of the two pacts -the Political Action Agenda for the Transition to Sustainable Agriculture and the Dialogue of the Forest, Agriculture and Commodities Trade- are Spain, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Brazil or India. Those commitments include the mobilization of $ 4 billion in new public investments dedicated to innovation in agriculture.

THE PHRASE: "Here we are all marching not only for ourselves: for the animals, for the plant world, for everything spiritual. The stars accompany this path today (...). There are no borders, there are no religions, there are no colors We are all one big family, the human family, "declared Chilean Mapuche Calfín Lafkenche at the beginning of the protest march in Glasgow.

THE DETAIL: The American artist John Quigley deployed today in Glasgow, coinciding with the COP26 day dedicated to nature, a giant butterfly to raise awareness about the fragility of the Amazon rainforest.

THE AGENDA: Tomorrow, Sunday, halfway through the Summit, is the day of rest at COP26, at least as far as official activities are concerned. On Monday, with adaptation as the central axis of the talks, work and negotiations will resume
