Ducati is, perhaps, the most passionate and visceral motorcycle manufacturer of all those who are currently among the main players in the sector. For this reason, the entry of Ducati into the market niche made up of electric motorcycles is awaited with special interest, a step that with the irruption of the Italian firm in MotoE has only come very close.

Last week we gave the news that Ducati was handing over to Energica as the main supplier of components and engineering for the electric motorcycles that run in this championship. A fact that will materialize in 2023.

This has been the premise under which in Cycle World they have interviewed the CEO of Ducati, Claudi Domenicali, this being one of the first occasions in which the Italian firm speaks openly about electric motorcycles in its street range.

In it, the Italian manager shows his position regarding the current situation of the transport sector towards more sustainable energies, making it clear that Ducati is predisposed to face the transition by taking command in terms of technology, principally which is why they will become the authors of MotoE electric motorcycles from 2023.

In this sense, Domenicali commented in the interview: "We are interested in using MotoE as a laboratory to study and develop technology. Battery, inverter and electric powertrain technology is evolving rapidly and we want to be in the front row to experiment, develop and be ready when the real race begins. "

 

Cycle World did not hesitate to ask the Ducati CEO about plans to mass-produce its first electric motorcycle, a question that has been plaguing the Italian brand for years. Domenicali responded to this: "Ducati is always focused on the future, and every time it enters a new world, it does so to create the product with the best possible performance. Domenicale also pointed out that in order to stand as one of the references in this "electric age" it was not only necessary to enjoy state-of-the-art electric motor and battery technology, but also to have a recharging network at the height of the circumstances, revealing so they want their electric scooters to have fast charging technology.
