#Wittels- Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 The Cabrils Animal Shelter (Maresme) is already up and running. Thanks to participatory budgets and the will of the City Council, Cabrils has this center that is managed by the Daina Foundation, the foundation of the Mataró Animal Protection Society, with the aim of being a welfare space for the animals taken in. The government of the Cabrils City Council and the Daina Foundation resulted in a relationship based on protectionist action through the establishment of common animal welfare projects and awareness of the reality that abandoned animals go through and raising awareness of what responsible ownership entails. It was therefore necessary that the Animal Shelter was in optimal conditions to carry out its functions correctly. For this reason, it was decided to carry out a remodeling and expansion work to guarantee that the animals were in the best conditions during their stay at the center . The Daina Foundation, which manages three shelters located in Mataró, Badalona and Cabrils and the Veterinary Space, in Mataró, locates its protectionist action basically in the Maresme, which facilitates effective and efficient management. The Daina Foundation is grateful for the work done by Adainc, the local protector and the volunteers who have managed the municipal service for years. The CAAC is located in the Industrial Zone Calle A, no. 5 of the town, has a total of 16 cages, two playgrounds for dogs, a cat flap and a multipurpose space at the entrance of the enclosure. It also has an office and services. By making maximum use of the hours of sunshine, together with the warm weather of the Maresme, the center will be improved in a second phase, to finish adapting all the needs of the animals and to properly serve the staff and volunteers who work. For now, the renovation of the center has involved an investment of 35,000 euros, coming from Participatory Budgets, and an investment of 50,000 euros. The opening ceremony was chaired by the mayor, Maite Viñals; the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Pedro Sáez; the SPAM volunteer coordinator, Núria García; and the president of the Daina Foundation, Sílvia Serra.
