Self-driving cars have the potential to increase the safety and efficiency of transportation systems, which is what GITEX Week discusses in a workshop titled “Autonomous Cars Are Coming.”

Talks in the workshop will focus on the recent developments in self-driving cars, their development and how to navigate them, and provide solutions to make informed decisions about the risks of robotic cars.

Director of the UAE Transportation Systems Department and Head of the Challenge Team, Khaled Al-Awadi, said that the Chinese company, Neolix, will introduce the self-driving car, in cooperation with the Internet market, "Noon", in the delivery service.

 

Self-driving cars can deliver parcels, food and beverage items and other similar products, and have a screen that can interact with people and validate QR codes used for shopping.

The car is likely to start operating later in October or early next November.

Al-Awadi pointed out that the car can work like a vending machine as well, and it contains multiple products that customers can shop from.

The vehicle can also reach the customer's location, and will be deployed in the residential areas, away from the main roads; But in the pedestrian areas of Dubai.
