  • Other Information: Evanescence is an American alternative metal band formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas by vocalist and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. The group currently has five members, but Moody is no longer involved.
  • The band was po[CENSORED]r in the Little Rock region, consolidating in the city's music scene in the late 1990s with EPs: Evanescence (1998) and Sound Asleep (1999), as well as the demo album Origin, released in 2000. it wasn't until the 2003 album Fallen that the band gained international recognition and sold over 17 million copies worldwide, earning seven-time Platinum status from the RIAA in the United States. The singles "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" remained for weeks at the top of the music charts, becoming the band's biggest hits so far. Such a triumph allowed the group to tour around the world in later years, and spawned the release of the live album Anywhere but Home in 2004.
  • On October 22, 2003, during a European tour, Ben left the band claiming "creative differences" with the other members, being replaced by guitarist Terry Balsamo, who also happened to contribute creatively to Evanescence from the album The Open Door (2006). The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and sold nearly six million copies worldwide, in addition to generating the single "Call Me When You're Sober", which ranked high on the music charts.
  • After The Open Door Tour ended, the band entered a hiatus period that lasted until the release of the single "What You Want" in August 2011, which preceded the self-titled album, Evanescence, in October of the same year. The record, like its predecessor, debuted at #1 on Billboard Magazine, receiving Gold Records in Australia and Canada. To promote the album, the band toured with the Evanescence Tour that lasted until November 2012, with 131 concerts performed.
  • After a three-year hiatus, the band returned to the stage with Jen Majura taking over Balsamo's guitars, and later released their fourth album, Synthesis (2017), which differed from their previous work by spreading the sounds of classical and electronic music. His tour also featured an orchestra at all concerts and generated the 2018 live album Synthesis Live.
  • Later in March 2021, The Bitter Truth was released, the band's fifth album, which spawned a few singles such as "Wasted on You" and "Better Without You". Their promotional tour is scheduled to start in November of the same year, with bands Halestorm and Within Temptation as co-headliners on some dates.
  • Evanescence is estimated to have sold about 25 million copies of CDs and DVDs worldwide.
