(CNN Spanish) - The top head of the Gulf Clan and the most wanted drug trafficker in Colombia, Dairo Antonio Úsuga, alias "Otoniel," was captured this Saturday, government sources and the National Police told CNN.

“This is the hardest blow that drug trafficking has dealt in this century in our country. This blow is only comparable to the fall of Pablo Escobar in the 1990s, "said President Iván Duque in a public statement after the capture.

The Clan del Golfo is a feared gang dedicated to drug trafficking and extortion.
