waLID. Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 Tesla has been taking its cars to the racetrack for a few years now, with one goal in mind, that of showing Porsche that the king of electrics is Elon Musk. Because since the launch of the Taycan, showing performances just as crazy as the Model S, with a 0 to 100 km / h achieved in just 2.8 seconds for the most powerful Turbo S version, the Californian brand sees red. A rivalry has therefore arisen between the two manufacturers, who are therefore waging a merciless war over which of them is really capable of offering the most efficient car and especially the fastest. A war that takes place on a well-known battlefield, which is none other than the Nürburgring, reputed to be the most difficult circuit in the world. And the least we can say is that the two electric sedans are doing well, posting times worthy of the best thermal sports cars. And for good reason, the Porsche Taycan had managed to complete a full lap in just 7.42 minutes. But it was without counting on the relentlessness of Elon Musk, who had then done everything to beat this record. Mission accomplished, since a few months ago, his Tesla Model S Plaid traveled the German circuit in just 7.30 minutes, with a top speed of 322 km / h. A good performance, especially since the Californian firm specified that the car was entirely original, and that the time could have been even faster with a modified car. On Twitter, the boss of the brand had also announced that " the next model [which will be tested] will be the modified Plaid with additional aerodynamic surfaces, carbon brakes and track tires ". It seems that we are finally there. And for good reason, spy photographers fromInsideEVs immortalized an astonishing, heavily modified Model S, in the middle of a ride on the Nürburgring . It does not wear any camouflage, but is decked out with new aerodynamic elements. Among them, we will notice the presence of an astonishing active spoiler, the position of which varies according to the photos, from horizontal to vertical, depending on acceleration and braking. An accessory which then makes it possible to optimize the downforce at high speed but also the braking on the track, and which suggests that Tesla is preparing a new record. We also note the presence of a lower blade at the front, as well as ceramic brakes, while the ride height has been lowered by a few millimeters. No information has been communicated by the brand on this subject, but there is no doubt that we should hear about it very soon if it does indeed succeed in breaking a new record. As a reminder, the Tesla Model S Plaiddisplays a total power of 1,020 horsepower for a 0 to 100 km / h in 2.1 seconds and a top speed of 322 km / h. It is already available to order on the Tesla site, for deliveries which will take place in the coming months. https://www.auto-moto.com/nouveautes/scoop/tesla-model-s-aileron-actif-surprise-nurburgring-293493.html
