Okaz newspaper reported that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah allowed those over the age of 70 to perform Umrah, provided that they had received the vaccine against the Corona virus.

The newspaper revealed that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah allowed those over the age of 70 to issue permits through the “Umrahna” or “Tawakulna” application and book appointments to perform Umrah, provided they are immunized with two doses of vaccines against the Corona virus.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah had previously clarified that the ages of those who are allowed to perform Umrah from inside the Kingdom and to issue a permit through the “Umrahna” or “Tawakulna” application must be between 18-70 years old, according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health previously, and that those who are over their age 70-year-olds cannot perform Umrah and issue permits, even if they have been vaccinated with Corona vaccines.

However, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently announced the expansion of the categories allowed to reserve permits, perform Umrah and pray in the Great Mosque of Mecca, to include the age group “12-18 years” for pilgrims inside, provided that they are immunized with two doses of Corona vaccines, as well as the age group “more than 70 years” provided Two-dose vaccination.

In this context, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stressed “the obligation of immunization against Corona to perform the rituals of Umrah or prayer in the Grand Mosque.”
