Both models made in Brazil receive the new VW Play infotainment system.

Towards the end of 2017, the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Polo was presented in Chile, the compact hatchback that began to be manufactured in Brazil using the group's new MQB-A0 modular platform.

The model stood out for exceeding 4 meters long (4,057 mm) for the first time, in addition to increasing its wheelbase to 2,565 mm and also in its width (1,751 mm), and launching a more avant-garde, expressive and aerodynamic design. A few months later, the Volkswagen Virtus, the 4.48 meter long three-body version, was launched in Chile, replacing the Bora offering the same qualities of its five-door brother.

At that time, Volkswagen had not yet released the new VW Play infotainment system, which would debut in early 2020 in the Nivus crossover. However, already at the beginning of this 2021 it launched in Brazil the new Polo and Virtus that, in essence, incorporate this technology and some other little thing.

Well, these new Polo and Virtus are already in Chile. The hatch is offered in a Highline version with manual and automatic box, and list prices of $ 13,690,000 and $ 14,690,000. The sedan, meanwhile, is offered in the same Highline MT and AT versions, with prices of $ 13,490,000 and $ 14,590,000, although there are brand and financing bonuses.

What do they bring back?

The most relevant thing is that they replace the old infotainment system of the brand with the new VW Play, which allows you to interact with different personal devices and control applications such as Spotify, Google Maps and Waze, as well as all those that are compatible, directly from the screen.

It includes a new 10-inch touch screen, much larger than the previous 6.5 ", and connection to smartphones wirelessly.

The new Highline versions also feature 10.25-inch digital markers called Active Info Display, and replace the 16-inch wheels with new 17-inch ones.

The rest of the equipment is the same from the Highline versions to previous ones, where the safety package stands out (6 ABS airbags, traction and stability controls, isofix, tire pressure monitor, front and rear sensors with camera), electrically folding mirrors , the dual zone climate control, the keyless entry system with the power button, the synthetic leather upholstery, and the light and rain sensors, among others.

The mechanical package for both models continues to be the 1.6 MPI four-cylinder engine associated with manual 5 and automatic 6 gearboxes.
