The man, carrying the lion on his shoulder, was subsequently arrested along with two other people. He was identified as a photographer from Cairo. According to local media, the five-month-old lion was being held illegally with the aim of partaking in a photoshoot to attract tourists to the area. The video caused uproar on social media, with users reminding that conditions at a residential home are inappropriate for a wild animal.
