Triumph Motorcycles returns to using the name of the legendary American actor, Steve McQueen, for its limited edition. This time, the British manufacturer released the Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition. This model is intended for collectors. Limited build, only 1,000 units worldwide. In their home country, England there, this motorbike is sold for 13,600 pounds sterling or the equivalent of Rp. 267 million. The official price is 1,000 pounds more expensive than the XE version which has the same specifications.

This special edition model was created to pay homage to the iconic Triumph TR6. The iron horse that Steven McQueen rode in the film 'The Great Escape' in 1963. The actor also works as a stuntman and was nicknamed 'King of Cool'. He caught the attention of his fans for his bravery on motorbikes throughout his film career.

As a differentiator from the XE type, Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition comes with a serial number. As well as a certificate of ownership signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor and Chad McQueen, Steve's son. It also gets lots of custom accessories installed by the factory along with a new color scheme.

 

Primarily, the material tank is painted "Green Competition", giving it an exclusive feel. Combined with hand-painted gold outline to frame it. It has an aluminum Monza fuel filler cap and a stainless steel tank strap. Equipped with an engine guard made of stainless steel tubing. The machine guard is given a layer that is polished with a special liquid. Offers additional protection to the clutch cover and alternator.

Then pinned with laser-cut aluminum radiator shields, which are more precise. It features premium brown leather seats with stitched ribbing and Triumph branding. The front and rear fenders also get a 'Green Competition'. Despite the new color scheme, the motorbike remains the same as before.

 

XC and XE
In addition to releasing the Steve McQueen edition, Triumph also introduced the Scrambler 1,200 type XC and XE model 2022. In terms of all the same specifications, the difference is that XC focuses on on-road tracks and XE is devoted to off-road terrain because it uses dual purpose tires. The most recent thing they got was pocketing the Euro 5 emission limit.

In terms of electronics, all Scrambler 1200 variants get the latest generation ride-by-wire technology from Triumph. Combined with six driving modes namely; road, rain, sport, off-road, off-road pro (only on the XE variant) and custom configurable. As a result, you can maximize the ability of your motorbike according to the road you are traveling on.

ABS braking, cornering ABS, cornering traction control and cruise control, ensure better rider stability. There's also a torque-assist clutch, keyless, keyless ignition, full LED lighting, and an under-seat USB charging socket as standard features.

There is also a full color TFT instrument console that offers three display layout options. Each of them can be adjusted according to the preferences of the rider. It is also inserted with a navigation system and offers integrated GoPro camera control.

 

The Scrambler 1200 2021 gets a parallel twin engine 270 °, 1,200 cc SOHC, 8 valve, liquid cooled and now meets Euro 5. This iron horse makes 88 hp at 7,250 rpm while peak torque output is at 110 Nm which comes at 4,500 rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and there is also a slipper assist clutch.

To meet the new emission standards, the catalyst was moved further back and a number of panels and side covers nearby were also revised. An overhaul in the sector is also beneficial in reducing the amount of heat reaching the riders. Engineers are also tinkering with air injection and combustion on the 2022 models, giving them new ways to achieve lower emission targets. As a bonus, fuel consumption is more efficient. Even so, it does not have an impact on losing energy. From the change in catalyst and the addition of a new cleaning valve, the weight of the motorbike was cut by 13 pounds (5 kg).

This motorbike is no stranger to current Scrambler 1200 owners. As before, there is a high specification suspension with Öhlins shock at the rear and USD Showa at the front. For the highest variant and special edition using a tube with a diameter of 47 mm in gold. Low type sedan measuring 45 mm and black color. Both get a playing distance of 250 mm. Each can also be fully tuned for preload, compression, and rebound.

Each wheel is equipped with twin 320 mm discs with Brembo M50 Radial monoblock calipers at the front and one disc at the rear.
