India breaks records of infections every day and is the third with the most deaths in the world.

This Monday the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it has mobilized aid to India, where the pandemic has recorded record numbers of more than 350,000 daily cases, a situation that it describes as "heartbreaking."

"WHO is doing everything in its power there, mobilizing equipment and sending aid including oxygen cylinders, prefabricated mobile hospitals and laboratory supplies," said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The Ethiopian expert indicated that the WHO has relocated 2,600 members of its staff to the country to support the response of the Indian health authorities on the ground.

Tedros added that, "globally, the pandemic continues to intensify, with cases rising for the ninth consecutive week and deaths for the sixth."

"There have been as many cases globally in the past week as in the first five months of the pandemic," exemplified the head of the WHO, who clarified that in some regions of the world (including America and Europe) weekly cases are decreasing slightly .

According to the WHO, global cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic amount to 146 million, of which 3.1 million died, while national health networks indicate that more than one billion have already been distributed on the planet of doses of anticovid vaccines.
