#Steeven.™ Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 With this new batch, there are already 420,000 doses sent through the international initiative. This Saturday afternoon, Ecuador received 336,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine through the Covax Facility initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO). In recent days, the deputy director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Jarbas Barbosa, had anticipated that nine countries in America, including Ecuador, would receive compensation since in the first round of shipment they had a reduced number of doses ( in March, the country received just 84,000). With this Ecuador already adds 420,000 doses of the 7'057,200 contracted in the mechanism. Upon arrival of the doses, President Lenín Moreno specified that there are already 1,944,270 vaccines that have arrived in the country between the initiative and contracts with pharmaceutical companies. The doses were received by the Vice Minister of Comprehensive Health Care, Salomón Proaño, and he was accompanied by Adrián Díaz, PAHO representative in Ecuador, and Juan Enríquez, from Unicef. “This new shipment will allow to reach more places and people with the vaccination. Now the country has close to two million doses to benefit the most vulnerable po[CENSORED]tion ”, highlighted Proaño. 1
