Over the years it has been possible to demystify health as simply a state of bodily well-being, opening up new fields for the study and research of this science as a whole. "Health is life in the silence of the organs", wrote the French surgeon René Leriche (1879-1955); But a state of well-being goes beyond the functioning of our organs and senses, it involves every area that makes up the human being and that moves him away from physical, emotional and social ailments. World Health Organization (1946), health is considered a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not only the absence of diseases or illnesses. Health is a fundamental human right without distinction of race, religion, political ideology or economic or social condition. When we speak of health in a po[CENSORED]tion, we must take into account aspects as diverse as family structure, leisure preferences, eating habits, means of transport, housing conditions, means of communication, work aspirations and free time; All of this marks social evolution and triggers changes that determine many aspects of an individual's life, up to the point of modifying their customs and way of life, conditioning towards routines that are not always favorable. In the case of Venezuela, a large number of these changes have led to the abandonment of physical activity as a dynamic of life, which together with inadequate eating habits, lead to situations of health risk and increase the rate of diseases such as obesity, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and others. One of the most important indicators of po[CENSORED]tion health and quality of life is life expectancy at birth, which reflects the number of years, based on known statistics, that individuals of a certain age can reasonably expect to live. Although the world average when talking about life expectancy is 69.64 years (1), there are abysmal differences between the different areas of the planet, since many factors can influence the increase or decrease of this value, such as a greater increase in the per capita income, greater access to education (education of the person), access to health and sanitary services, decrease in per capita spending on health, increase in the number of doctors, an advantageous geographical location, among others. (two) The World Health Organization estimates that the Venezuelan po[CENSORED]tion has an average life expectancy of 72/79 years (3), well above world life expectancies, however there is sufficient empirical evidence to the effect that an improvement in The living conditions of citizens, promoting healthy habits and reducing the rate of diseases, proportionally influences their longevity, which should be reflected in a decrease in the number of deaths from preventable diseases. Worldwide, the impact of preventable non-communicable diseases is growing steadily and they represent the most important cause of death, with 63% of the total number of annual deaths. Worldwide, cardiovascular diseases rank first in deaths from chronic diseases, followed by cancer, respiratory diseases and diabetes. (4) Venezuela does not escape from this reality, since in 2010 there were 138,504 deaths from all causes. Among the five main reasons for death in the po[CENSORED]tion, four are related to chronic non-communicable diseases: Heart disease as the first cause, followed by deaths from various types of Cancer and Cerebrovascular Diseases, which occupies the third place, but no less important. the numbers of deaths recorded by Diabetes ranking fifth. These causes represent 50.86% of the total deaths in the country for that year. (5) In addition, these diseases share four risk factors: poor diet, physical inactivity, tobacco consumption and the harmful use of alcohol. High blood pressure and obesity are the main risk factors for chronic diseases, and official figures indicate that high blood pressure is responsible for about 51% of deaths from strokes and 45% of heart diseases that occur. recorded annually in the world. It is considered directly responsible for approximately 7.5 million deaths annually. On the other hand, every day the world weighs more, and that is that each year 2.8 million people die due to overweight or obesity. The worldwide prevalence of obesity with a body mass index greater than 30kg / m2 almost doubled between 1980 and 2008, with the highest percentages of obese people in the Region of the Americas. (4) Clearly the call for lifestyle changes is a global health priority. It is time to create awareness, establishing social values and public responsibilities that guide the development of strategies and behaviors that allow to preserve health, improve quality of life and increase longevity. A healthy life is the basis of a healthy society, which guarantees its individuals to fully enjoy their years of life. Based on these changes, the idea has arisen to provide a list of steps, which serve as a tool for society in general, to implement habits and behaviors that lead to a full and healthy life.
