[Auto / Moto] "Big" car equal extra tax: M5S likes it up to 2,500 euros but collection is slow

any lovers of engines and powerful cars do not like it, while others praise it because it is useful to the state coffers. This is the 'malus' contribution for cars with emissions over 160 grams of CO2 per kilometer. In the palaces of politics in Rome there is discussion to maximize the collection, not yet functioning properly. At least if today we count the contribution paid for the two-year period March 2019-March 2021: approximately 102 million euros. There are 77,500 owners of new cars that can be trivially defined as "big" even if this is not always the case, who have paid the due to the tax authorities. Against the approximately 300 thousand vehicles involved, for a much higher expected revenue (even half a billion euros).

Some deputies of the 5 Star Movement then push to go ahead with the idea of "the more polluters, the more pays" without wasting time. Others, on the other hand, appreciate the cut that files the eco-tax leaving it only for cars with higher emissions, over 190 grams of CO2.

The proceeds of the malus that on average supporters say relate to "expensive" cars would then serve to re-finance the incentives when they run out, for those who buy electric or hybrid cars. “It is right that anyone who has the opportunity to buy a car with a high impact on the environment worth more than 50,000 euros also pays a tax ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 euros, ” the Movement recalled.
