The 112 Emergency Service of Castilla-La Mancha received a call on Saturday, February 28, that a man claimed to have suffered a bite by a rattlesnake when he was walking through a field in La Puebla de Montalbán (Toledo). The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Toledo Civil Guard took charge of the lifeless body of the animal and began investigations to determine its origin and the possible criminal or administrative responsibility of its owner.

With the help of several specialists in the management of dangerous exotic animals, they were able to identify by means of a chip installation and to correctly catalog the more than 30 species of reptiles present, up to 45 snakes among vipers, cobras -one royal- and mambas -two green- , plus a boa constrictor.

Along with the reptiles there were also 12 scorpions and various material for their feeding and care, such as a freezer chest full of mice and small animals.

By not providing documentation proving their legitimate origin and authorization for the possession of these exotic and highly poisonous animals, the Seprona proceeded to their immediate apprehension, in total 44 very toxic snakes and 12 lethal scorpions, finding a dead reptile.
