Electrified models totaled more than 24,000 units last month.
The increasingly solid commitment of car manufacturers to electrified technologies is translating into a gradual increase in sales and registrations of this type of models, whether they are hybrids, plug-in hybrids, fully electric or even micro-hybrids.

Today we want to review which are the models of this type that are being sold the most in our country, resorting to the figures of both this last month of March and the accumulated of so far this year, although without comparing sales figures with the previous year, due to the situation of the dealers during the past 2020.

Since the beginning of this 2021, a total of 52,326 electrified passenger cars have been registered in Spain, adding the three types already mentioned, a figure that far exceeds that of cars sold with a diesel engine, which amounts to 42,763 units.

In total, fully electric passenger cars have added 2,025 units registered during the month of March, representing a market share of 2.36%. All of them logically benefit from the DGT's 0 Emissions label. It should be noted that no fuel cell (hydrogen) passenger cars were registered in March.

Among the 100% electric models, the best-seller for March is the Renault ZOE, with 312 units, followed by the Tesla Model 3 (296 units) and the Volkswagen ID.4 (161). In the accumulated of the year, however, it leads the Model 3 (496), ahead of the ZOE (367) and the Peugeot e-208 (254).

Plug-in hybrids

For their part, the plug-in hybrid or PHEV models have reached 3,551 registered units, which represents 4.14% of the total passenger car market. Of these, 3,367 cars are gasoline hybrids and the remaining 184 are diesel. In this case, not everyone is eligible for label 0 (it depends on their electrical autonomy, which must be equal to or greater than 40 kilometers).

In terms of models, the undisputed leader among PHEVs is the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid, with 370 units, followed by the Mercedes-Benz GLA (178) and the Renault Captur E-TECH (168). Between January and March, the 3008 kept the first place (896), like the Captur (320) the third, but in second position the Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid, with 348 copies.

Conventional hybrids
Regarding conventional hybrids, a category in which ANFAC also includes microhybrids or 'mild hybrid', we are talking about a total of 18,795 specimens, which represent no less than 21.90% of the total number of passenger car registrations during the month of March. With 2,011 registrations, the Fiat 500 Hybrid tops the list, with the Toyota Corolla (1,450) in second place and the Hyundai Tucson (1,328) in third place.

Finally, in the accumulated of the year 2021, between January and March, the Corolla prevails, with 3,815 registrations, and the Toyota C-HR, with 3,340 cars. The podium is closed by the aforementioned Fiat 500, with 3,063 copies.
