The egg, thanks to its high nutritional value, has been named as the best food that a growing child can receive after breast milk, as well as being a great ally when it comes to fighting malnutrition.

In Ecuador, one in three children under 2 years of age suffers from chronic malnutrition and egg protein, its nutrients and minerals fight this serious condition that affects infants in their physical development: by delaying adequate growth according to their age and cognitive as it compromises your academic achievements.

The egg provides nutrients such as choline, important for brain development and the nervous system, regulates memory and people's mood; It contains vitamin B12, folates and other essential components for the brain and cognitive development of boys and girls.

In addition, the yolk contains selenium, a natural antioxidant; sialic acid, anti-inflammatory and important for the functioning of cell membranes; and carotenes, which improve visual acuity.

The National Corporation of Poultry Farmers of Ecuador (Conave), in accordance with the postulates of food sovereignty of the country, details the egg as a product that houses all the qualities that children need for their proper development.

The nutritionist and health expert Sthefania Esparza reaffirms the thesis by commenting that it is a food full of proteins, good fats, and houses essential amino acids, which is why she recommends its daily consumption.

Currently, Ecuador has the second highest rate in Latin America and the Caribbean, after Guatemala, with 27% of DCI in children from 0 to 2 years old and 23.9% in children under 5 years of age. Data that show, according to the vice president, that malnutrition is a development problem with several aspects and with structural and conjunctural causes, which is why they are developing a project to reach those communities whose children have high rates of malnutrition.
