CARACAS - After the first three qualifying dates heading to Qatar 2022, Vinotinto had 3 defeats: 3-0 against Colombia, 0-1 against Paraguay and 1-0 against Brazil. José Peseiro's bench began to wobble and the Vinotinto fans asked for the head of the Portuguese DT. But on Tuesday, the national team beat Chile 2-1.

This was not only the first victory in these qualifiers, it was the first against the Red in national territory. The triumph turned the love story between Peseiro and the fans of the team upside down, now they dream of a lasting marriage.

In this post, we will analyze the performances of the last DT’s in the first 4 playoff games. We will start with Richard Páez.

The Merida coach, father of the so-called Boom Vinotinto, made his debut on the national bench on March 28, 2001. That day, Venezuela visited Argentina and was beaten 5-0 with goals from Crespo, Sorín, Verón, Gallardo and Samuel.

In subsequent games, the Lanceros de Páez equaled Colombia 2-2 in San Cristóbal, lost 5-0 in Bolivia and gave the big bell by defeating Uruguay 2-0 in Maracaibo.

Since 2008, he settled on the bench of the César Farías team that made his debut on June 14 in the historic Centennial of Montevideo: drawing 1-1. In the successive games the defeats came: 2-3 with Chile, 1-0 in Peru and 2-0 in Paraguay.

With po[CENSORED]r clamor, in 2014, Noel Sanvicente was appointed DT de la Vinotinto. But the Goddess Fortuna was not on his side, in 4 presentations he received the same number of defeats: 0-1 with Paraguay, 3-1 in Brazil, 4-2 in Bolivia and 1-3 with Ecuador.

After Chita's goodbye and thanks to his excellent results with the youth teams, Rafael Dudamel arrived. His debut with the national team was on September 1, 2016 with a 2-0 defeat in Colombia. Then he drew 2-2 with Argentina in Merida and was beaten 3-0 in Uruguay and 0-2 with Brazil.

At the moment, this special table of positions is led by Richard Páez with 4 points, followed by Peseiro with 3, Dudamel and Farías with 1.
