[Auto] Kia EV6: New South Korean Electric Crossover to Debut Very Soon

The transformation of the automotive sector, by electric mobility, there is no one to stop it. A decade ago few believed that electric vehicles could arrive so soon, but technology has allowed it. In fact, there are firms that have changed their strategy to focus their forces and investments in this direction. One of the brands that is betting the most, and growing, is the South Korean Kia and the proof is in its latest development.

We all knew they were working on something interesting, but the first official teasers for the Kia EV6 leave us wanting more. The data we have about it is still scarce, but the basis on which it is developed is known. If you remember a little, you will remember the Imagine by Kia prototype that we could meet in 2019. Well, the EV6 crossover will mark a new era for the firm and a wake-up call to its direct rivals.

Talking about the aesthetics of the Kia EV6, for the moment, is hasty because the images we have are teasers. However, we can intuit the basic lines that will shape the body. On the front we have ripped Full LED optics (they seem sequential) that give way to a muscular hood. The typical Tiger Nose grille is reduced in size and serves as the basis for the two ribs that run through the bonnet and connect with the "A" pillar.

The side view reveals the most dynamic side of the Kia EV6. The brand defines it as a crossover, but the shape of the hood, the raised window, the roof line and the coupe-style rear indicate that it is more designed for driving on the road than on the field. Two elements stand out here. The first is the small spoiler on the rear window. The second is the way in which the lid that gives access to the trunk is finished.

To finish we must talk about the rear optics. It is the only element that has been revealed of this plane and based on what we have seen, we can say that they are very original. They have Full LED technology and sequential operation. Next to it appears the name of the model and here we must also stop. The Kia EV6 will be the first model of the firm to debut this new sequencing of names for its electric vehicles.

Regarding its technique there is still no official data, although we all know that the Kia EV6 is twinned with the Hyundai IONIQ 5. Both vehicles are developed on the modern and flexible E-GMP platform that they have created together. Therefore, the EV6 should arrive with two power levels, two battery options and up to 500 kilometers of autonomy. Its official debut will take place in the first quarter of the year and its sale in the summer.
