#Steeven.™ Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 The growth of the SUV segment is causing manufacturers to adapt their ranges in a hurry. Hyundai is one of the firms that is working the most to expand its offer in all market segments. We have the proof in how they have shortened the life cycle of the Santa Fe or the evolution that the new Tucson has undergone. But the big surprise has come from the hand of a small unpublished model that nobody expected: the Hyundai Bayon. The first time we heard of the Hyundai Bayon was in November of last year. The secrecy regarding the project was total, but at the end of last January we had more details. They came in the form of images that served to uncover some of its design secrets. Now the South Korean firm takes a step and publishes all the information. And be careful, because thanks to an original aesthetic and very interesting ideas it could end up succeeding. The image of the Hyundai Bayon is controversial and very original If we take a look at the design of the new Hyundai Bayon we see how the Sensuous Sportiness language has evolved. The front stands out for the division of its optics and the large size of its grill. The DRL daytime running lights are connected by a small air intake that is located in the lower area of the hood. For its part, the bumper has very sharp lines that give way to a lower air intake protected by a chrome trim. The side view shows the character of the Bayon. Especially because of how marked the tension lines in the body are. The arrow-shaped C-pillar is very wide, although it does not detract from the dynamism of the whole. The wheel arches are protected by black plastic moldings. By way of contrast, the mirrors and the roof are painted in a black tone. For its part, the wheels can be made of sheet metal and 15 inches or alloy with 16 or 17 inches. In last place is the rear, the most original area. Especially for its arrow-shaped optics that are joined in the center through an LED strip. This element is mounted on a spoiler that, in addition to giving strength to the whole, divides the rear window into what appears to be two parts. The gate has simple lines and the emblems of the Bayon are located in the lower area. For its part, the bumper houses the reversing and anti-fog lights and a discreet diffuser. Technological interior and relatively spacious for its size Inside the Hyundai Bayon stands out for its technology and digitization. The basic lines that shape its dashboard are simple and clean, though not lacking in character. In the cockpit stands out the configurable digital instrument panel of 10.25 inches or the floating central touch screen oriented towards the driver. Its size can be 8 or 10.25 inches depending on the equipment chosen. One of the strengths of the Bayon is that the climate control controls are analog. The only downside is that they are located in an area out of sight. Regarding the quality of finishes, at least visually, it is at a high level, with carefully selected materials. LED ambient lighting is another novelty, such as the introduction of gadgets such as two USB ports for the front passengers and one in the rear. In terms of safety, the Hyundai Bayon has the Hyundai SmartSense package. Among the most important functions are the lane keep assist, navigation-based intelligent cruise control or driver attention warning. Finally we have to talk about its habitability. Thanks to its 2.58 meter and 4.18 meter long wheelbase, it offers 88.2 centimeters of legroom for rear passengers. Green mechanical offering focused on gasoline and hybridization To finish getting to know the new Hyundai Bayon we will tell you how its range is composed. In the first place, say that the diesels have died because no version is contemplated. The Asian firm trusts its bet on the reputed Kappa family associated with hybridization depending on which versions. The smallest corresponds to the 1.2 MPi four-cylinder block with 84 HP of power associated with a 5-speed manual transmission. The middle and upper zone is entrusted to the block three cylinders and turbo 1.0 TGD-i. The middle step has 100 hp of power associated with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7DCT dual-clutch automatic with 7 speeds. In this case, to optimize fuel consumption, a selector is available with three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) that modify certain engine parameters. If we want, this same version can have a 48-volt micro-hybrid system that in its case can also have an intelligent manual transmission (i6MT). Finally, there is the 1.0 TGD-i block with 120 HP of power that can only be chosen associated with a 48-volt micro-hybrid system. There are two transmissions available: a 6-speed intelligent manual (i6MT) or a 7DCT dual-clutch automatic. When will the new Hyundai Bayon hit the market? For the moment, Hyundai has limited itself to publishing the press kit for its new B-SUV. There are no dates for its arrival on the market yet, although it should debut before 2021 draws to a close. When the moment approaches they will release the rest of the missing information. One of them is its possible price list although we cannot ignore the equipment levels and how it will be configured for the Spanish market.
