The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted this Wednesday that Venezuela raises, together with Mother Africa, the flags of freedom, independence and justice. ALSO READ: Venezuela receives 500,000 doses of Chinese anticovid vaccine During a videoconference called Dreams of Freedom, regarding the Bolivarian Government's tribute to the leaders of the African Independence processes, the national president greeted and thanked the solidarity expressed by the peoples and governments of that continent towards the nation, in front of the systematic attacks and coercive actions applied from the administration of imperial powers. "We share with Mother Africa the struggle for independence to achieve the happiness of our peoples who own their own destiny, breaking the chains of colonialism and the shameful apartheid regime," he said. The occasion was propitious for the Bolivarian head of state to grant the “Francisco de Miranda Order, in its first class”, to the Leaders of the Independence of Mother Africa. “This award that we are giving you today is more than deserved. You are an example of resistance, courage, perseverance and loyalty, "said President Maduro. The Venezuelan president reviewed the heroic struggles in Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, peoples of which he highlighted his spirit of freedom, justice and love for his people. In this regard, Venezuela paid tribute to historical figures, among which the following stand out: Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna "Sam" Nujoma, founding father of the Republic of Namibia; Joaquim Chissano, former president of the Republic of Mozambique; Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia; Oppah Chamu Zvipange Muchinguri Kashiri, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Luzia Inglés Van-Dúnem, president of the Organization of Angolan Women, and General of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Angola. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, who introduced the meeting, stressed that "This award is awarded for the services rendered to his country and humanity, to the progress of the country, and to the outstanding merit in each of its nations, being light in the battles that are being fought in the 21st century for the dignity of our peoples ". For their part, the honorees agreed to highlight the honor received on behalf of their respective peoples, highlighting the figure of Francisco de Miranda as one of the founding icons of the independence processes. At her turn, Van-Dúnem stressed that the gesture "symbolizes the recognition of the friendly relations between our peoples." For his part, Muchinguri Kashiri, assured that "We will always raise our voices against injustice, carrying the flags of Francisco de Miranda." Nandi-Ndaitwah considered that the honor received reflects "the high regard that Venezuela has for Namibia and its people." The Francisco de Miranda Order in its First Class is delivered by the Government of Venezuela to national and foreign citizens, to reward their relevant contributions to science and progress, and for outstanding merits.
