SougarLord
The webOS platform will no longer be exclusive to LG smart TVs. The Korean company has announced that it will license the use of webOS to more than 20 manufacturers so that they can use the po[CENSORED]r operating system on their televisions. Powered by webOS TV LG explains that it will continue to develop webOS TV in an open way, while allowing other companies to make use of its platform. This move emulates Google's strategy, which allows the use of Android TV by various brands in their respective products. At the time of the announcement, more than 20 brands were confirmed that they will adopt webOS as their operating system, with more expected to join in the future. According to the company, this move "has the potential to reshape the television business, for both technology and content providers, while significantly increasing LG's presence in the global entertainment market." LG Allows Use of Webos Other Brands Tv Television Smart Tv Brands like Polaroid, RCA, Hyundai and Makena will make the big leap to webOS, in many cases from their own platform, and will take advantage of the years of experience and development that LG has invested in their platform. In addition, big names in the content industry, such as Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and Rakuten TV are also cited as partners. LG points out that compatible models may even implement its well-known Magic Motion control. With this move, LG also seeks to expand the reach of LG Channels, its free streaming content platform, in addition to opening the door to more channels and, therefore, greater possibilities of monetizing its content. "webOS is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to access millions of hours of movies and TV shows," explains Park Hyoung-sei, president of LG Home Entertainment, "welcoming other manufacturers to join the webOS ecosystem, we are embarking on a new path that allows many new users to experience the same great experience and features that are available on LG TVs. " LG bought webOS from HP in 2013, and it was just a year later that it was fully implemented on LG smart TVs. It has taken seven years for LG to finally allow its use by other manufacturers, but without a doubt this is excellent news for the future of smart TVs.
