SougarLord
This represents another step in seeking to meet the Environmental Challenge that the company proposed for 2025, in which they seek to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and a fundamental part of this challenge includes having an electrified option in each segment of Brand vehicles, whether electric hybrids, plug-in hybrids, hydrogen cell electric or fully electric. In 2020 alone, 17 percent of Toyota's total sales in Mexico were hybrids, which makes it clear to us the good acceptance and adaptation to this technology by Mexican consumers. "The path that Prius started in 2010 has led us to have sales records in this segment year after year. In 2020 we were able to sell 13,055 electrified hybrid units, which represented 17 percent of our total sales. This evolution has resulted in As a result, Toyota remains the leader in this segment in Mexico and now we are proud to have reached 60,000 units in just over 10 years, "said Guillermo Diaz, Vice President of Operations for Toyota Motor Sales de México. The family of electrified hybrids that are marketed in the country is already made up of six models that satisfy different tastes and needs of the Mexican market. Starting with the iconic Prius that celebrated its 10th anniversary in Mexico last year, and Prius C that has been characterized as the entry-level hybrid, which together have achieved sales of 43,785 since 2010, the year in which Prius presented us with the great advantages of hybrid motorization. Such has been the relevance of Prius in the country and the interest it generated in the consumer for contributing personally to reduce its carbon footprint, that Mexico occupies the third market with the highest sales of this vehicle, just below the US and Japan. Camry and Corolla joined the hybrid family, each having a version with this engine. Thus the favorite sedans on the market joined the sustainable mobility. Since its arrival in the Mexican market in 2018 and 2019 respectively, Camry Hybrid has sold almost 1,500 units and Corolla Hybrid 3,367. RAV4 Hybrid, built under the TNGA platform, with a power of 219 HP thanks to its hybrid system (Hybrid Synergy Drive), became the favorite among adventurers with a spirit committed to the environment. To date, this SUV has sold 5,387 hybrid units since its launch in 2019, which undoubtedly contributed to RAV4 being one of the five best-selling vehicles of the brand in the country. And recently the new Sienna 2021 was added, the leading minivan in Mexico that now opens a generation with a hybrid engine, but for all its versions, which will seek to maintain its leadership position during this year. Toyota's electric hybrid technology The Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) system is a technology developed by Toyota that provides a combined performance of the internal combustion engine, electric motor, generator and batteries, providing high performance. Toyota's electric hybrids allow the use of two power sources to generate motion. They use a self-healing electric battery and an internal combustion engine (gasoline). The hybrid system allows the kinetic energy to be collected and reused, which mainly escapes with each braking. That is, the battery is recharged all the time, for example when the speed decreases or when braking constantly. The synergy of both engines makes the hybrids achieve higher performance, especially in conditions that do not require full power, such as traffic jams or on slopes, which makes it a benchmark for green mobility. Toyota introduced hybrid technology in 1997 and since that date has sold more than 15 million electrified hybrid vehicles worldwide.
