Deception of proportions, on Facebook. 500,000 people have already been affected

A large-scale scam circulating on Facebook has already affected about 500,000 people, say online security experts.

In fact, it's a phishing campaign derived from the version that has already claimed millions of victims so far, namely the "Is it you, somehow?" which involves receiving a message from a person, which can also be known by the target person. The message consists of a video, in which the attacker claims that the victim would appear, shows the publication "The Sun"

It is, in fact, a virus, which attempts to exploit the victim's computer or phone in order to obtain sensitive personal information, including access to bank accounts, warns experts in organized crime online, according to the quoted source.

The phishing message can be sent right from the computer or phone of a virtual friend, without him suspecting, because he already has the infected device.

If the target clicks on the link with the so-called video sent, it will be redirected to a number of sites, ending up infecting its device with malware.

The current threat, considered at least as dangerous, has been investigated by Cybernews experts.

Online security experts believe that a hacker could determine a person's location, the device they use and the operating system on the device. Based on this data, it will adapt the type of malware used, which will eventually infect the device and lead to the leakage of sensitive information.

The victims even reach a phishing page that mimics Facebook, where they will be asked for personal data.

According to CyberNews, the attacks began in January 2020 and targeted mainly users in Germany. So far, 480,000 people have been affected.
