[News] Cyberpunk 2077 Dev CD Projekt RED Suffers Cyber Attack, Some Internal Systems Compromised

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has taken to Twitter and gone public with the news that it has become the victim of a cyber hack which has compromised some of the studio's "internal systems". A ransom note has been left by the party in question, but the Polish studio states it will not give in to the demands stated below. The online attack is similar to that of which Capcom is suffering from right now — one which has seen internal documents leaked online.

In a tweet, CD Projekt RED said: "An unidentified actor gained unauthorized access to our internal network, collected certain data belonging to CD PROJEKT capital group, and left a ransom note the contents of which we release to the public. Although some devices in our network have been encrypted, our backups remain intact. We have already secured out IT infrastructure and begun restoring the data." The developer is still investigating the hack, but as of right now, states that the systems compromised did not contain any personal information relating to those who play games put out by CD Projekt RED.

CD Projekt RED signs off by saying: "We have already approached the relevant authorities, including law enforcement and the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, as well as IT forensic specialists, and we will closely cooperate with them in order to fully investigate this incident."
