If there is one group that is deeply involved in electricity, it is undoubtedly Volkswagen. If the Wolfsburg firm narrowly missed the target set by the European Union and therefore suffered a heavy fine for half a gram too much, we cannot however say that it did not do effort. And for good reason, whether with his new ID.3 and ID.4but also with the technical cousin of the latter, the Skoda Enyaq, the German company has given itself the means to succeed. And it seems far from over, as Volkswagen wants to expand its zero-emission range, offering a production version of each of the concepts of the ID family unveiled in recent years. It is already done while the brand therefore offers a compact and a small electric SUV. But it wants to go even further, with a more spacious model, called ID.6, and inspired by the ID.Roomzz style study , unveiled in 2019. Reserved for the Chinese market and revealed a little later in the year, this large SUV did not, however, wait to show itself, while images have leaked on the net. The opportunity to learn more about the style of this newcomer in the catalog, which broadly incorporates the stylistic identity of the other models in the ID range. The light signature therefore remains close to that inaugurated on the Volkswagen ID.3 , nevertheless evolving very slightly and gaining in aggressiveness. At the rear, the whole is much more loaded than our European models, which play the card of a very refined style. Overall, the SUV does not skimp on tricks to impose as much as possible, whether with its wide grille and plastic side guards. Using the MEB platform of ID.3 and ID.4, this ID.6should display generous dimensions, with a length of 4.8 meters by 1.8 meters wide. Beautiful measurements which suggest a large space on board, while seven people should be able to take place. The interior has not yet been shown, but the presentation should remain in the same vein as that of the other models in the ID range, ie relatively simple with a touch screen placed on the dashboard. No surprises under the hood Logically, this new Volkswagen should take over the engines of its two electric sisters, as well as the Skoda Enyaq . If further details should be revealed a bit later, the top-of-the-range version should undoubtedly be equipped with an 82 kWh battery then offering a maximum range of 500 kilometers. Other variants could also emerge, as on its Czech cousin, with batteries of 55 and 66 kWh, while the powers will then oscillate between 150 and 300 horses approximately. The large SUV should then be compatible with a recharge of up to 125 kW, then allowing the battery to go from 10 to 80% in just about thirty minutes. Anyway, it will take a little more patience before discovering this Volkswagen ID.6, which should first be sold in China before eventually arriving here. It should then compete head-on with the Tesla Model Y .
