Ale X Erfan Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 The draw for the Copa del Rey semi-finals is over, and to the delight of Barcelona fans, they have not been drawn against Athletic Bilbao. However, they are possibly facing the toughest opponent of the three, being drawn against Sevilla in the semi-finals, which was most Barcelona fans third-choice as was revealed in a poll conducted by Barça Universal Twitter. The last three rounds of the Kings’ Cup have been full of fatigue for the Blaugranas. A goalkeeping masterclass from UE’s Cornella Ramon Juan forced the game into extra-time in the Round of 32, after which the Catalan giants had to overcome Rayo Vallecano in the Round of 16, who took the lead in the game with less than 30 minutes to spare. However, the most exciting of the lot was the quarters, where Granada erected a mountain for Barcelona, with the team 2-0 down in the 88th minute. Thankfully, it was not to be for the Andalusian outfit as Barça emerged victors 5-3. The Copa del Rey semi-finals, unlike the previous rounds, will be a two-legged tie, with the first leg taking place at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Barcelona fans will be rather happy that the second leg will take place at the Camp Nou. They have, a lot of times overcome deficits at home in the second leg, with the most iconic one being against Paris-Saint Germain. However, the last encounter against Sevilla was held in gameweek 3 of La Liga, which ended in a 1-1 draw after a mammoth performance from Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo, with both centre-halves holding their own in the heart of the defence. The first game of the semis will take place on 9th/10th February, with the second leg to be hosted almost a month later on 2nd/3rd March. If Barça can overcome Julien Lopetegui’s Sevilla, they will face one of Levante or Athletic Bilbao, who lock horns in the other bracket of the semis. The final will be a single match held at Estadio de La Cartuja, Seville, scheduled to be played on 17 April.
