#Hassan. Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 The British drug company GlaxoSmithKline and the German company, [CENSORED]c, said that they plan to cooperate in making a new generation of vaccines that target the mutated strain of Covid-19. The announcement comes as public health experts around the world are raising concerns about mutations in the virus that may make existing vaccines less effective. The two companies said in a statement Wednesday that "the increase in emerging variables with the ability to reduce the effectiveness of the first generation of Covid-19 vaccines requires accelerating efforts to develop vaccines against the new variants to maintain one step before the epidemic." Next-generation Covid-19 vaccines can be used either to protect people who have not been vaccinated before, or to act as boosters if the COVID-19 immunity acquired from the initial vaccination decreases over time. GlaxoSmithKline says it will also help [CENSORED]c to manufacture up to 100 million doses of the current candidate vaccine this year
