[Auto] Tesla Model S Plaid, a madness with 1,020 hp and 322 km / h

Tesla continues to revolutionize the electric vehicle market. It has been several years since it launched its flagship product, the Tesla Model S. A kind of electric saloon with great autonomy and more than enough features. Later it was followed by the SUV, called Model X, and later a more compact saloon, the Model 3.

The fact is that the Elon Musk firm has just presented the most important update of the Tesla Model S. It is now available and, then, we are going to review the most notable aspects. There are aesthetic changes, but also new versions and finishes. The Tesla Model S Plaid variant stands out above all, raising the power to 1,020 hp.

 

Tesla Model S Plaid

Starting with the rough Model S Plaid, the Californian brand offers us this radical variant. It has a tri-motor mechanics with 1,020 CV of maximum performance. Thanks to its all-wheel drive, it is capable of transmitting all this energy to the asphalt very efficiently. So much so that it can go from 0 to 100 in just 2.1 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 9.2 seconds.

But the impressive data does not end there, since its maximum speed reaches up to 322 km / h, something to which not only its enormous power contributes, but also the low aerodynamic coefficient with 0.208 Cd. As if this were not enough, it achieves autonomy estimated 628 kilometers with a single recharge. When batteries need to be recharged, it can be done at a maximum power of 250 kW.

The price of this version rises to 119,990 euros. However, for those who want even more autonomy without losing these brutal features there is an even superior variant. It is called Tesla Model S Plaid +, and it has a superior battery that increases the autonomy up to 840 kilometers. Of course, all based on a checkbook, as they request 20,000 euros more. It is probably one of the most aspirational electric passenger cars.

 

Other changes to the electric saloon

Leaving aside these improvements in performance, it is worth mentioning the aesthetic changes. The interior is particularly striking. In the images we can see the new steering wheel adopted by the model, with only half a rectangular ring leaving the upper part free. It seems to be inspired by the steering wheel of KITT, the protagonist of The Fantastic Car.

For its part, in the center of the dashboard there is a new 17-inch horizontal screen with a resolution of 2,200 x 1,300. Before this screen had a vertical layout.

Tesla says it has true, ultra-bright colors, exceptional responsiveness, and a tilt to the right. The appearance of the dashboard also changes, with a more worked style but maintaining the characteristic minimalism.

To all this must be added the use of a new screen for the second row of seats, located in the area of the transmission tunnel.

The cheapest Tesla Model S price is 89,990 euros. It has 663 kilometers of autonomy and 670 hp, being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds and reaching a limited top speed of 250 km / h. I think they are already sufficient benefits for most mortals ...
