#Steeven.™ Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 A group of researchers has published a study on a more powerful immune response in people who have been infected by the coronavirus and then have overcome the disease in its severe form, making a possible re-exposure complicated. The team, led by Christian H. Ottensmeier, of the La Jolla Institute of Immunology, took samples from 39 Covid patients of different severity levels and 10 other healthy subjects, to compare the characteristics of the lymphocytes generated with the coronavirus against those of syncytial viruses and influenza. "The findings suggest that patients with severe disease mount a more effective CD8 T cell response, which may lead to greater protection against re-exposure to the virus," they indicate in this study, published in Science. The researchers observed that the CD8 T cells of individuals who had mild covid were impaired, unlike those who had suffered severe forms. The results of this study on the ability of CD8 T cells against the virus provide information about this barrier of the immune system, which could contain SARS-CoV-2, research is beginning to find out more data. 3
