#Steeven.™ Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Initial figures from one of the Israeli healthcare providers released Monday by local media show that out of a group of 128,600 people, only 20 contracted coronavirus a week after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. This information, which specialists emphasize should be taken with caution, was published today by the digital Times of Israel and places the percentage of infected people seven days after receiving the second vaccine at 0.015%. "These results are very good, and if they stay in this direction it may turn out that the vaccine is more effective than what Pfizer estimated during its tests," Anat Ekka Zohar, responsible for the analysis published today, explained to the digital. On the other hand, he warned that "this is very preliminary information but nevertheless it is important since everyone is paying attention to Israel to receive information on the efficacy of the vaccine." These figures come a few days after a controversy broke out in Israel due to contradictions between different health officials regarding the effectiveness of the first dose of the vaccine, which was initially said to be more effective than thought, then less and finally that it was still too early to tell. So far Israel, with nine million inhabitants, has given the first dose of the vaccine to more than 2.5 million people, while more than a million have already received the second. Meanwhile, a third general confinement is in force in the country, which began on December 27 and will last until at least next Sunday, January 31. With the latest infections detected, Israel today exceeded 600,000 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, of which just over 70,000 remain active, 1,140 of them in serious condition. 3
