Mini India has reported total sales of 512 units in 2020. According to the automobile manufacturer, the locally-produced Mini Countryman commanded a share of more than 40 per cent in total sales, while the Mini Hatch and the Mini Convertible contributed with 33 per cent and over 23 per cent, respectively. Although the countrywide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic adversely affected the sales during the first half of 2020, Mini India regained some momentum in the second half of the year. In the October-December period of 2020, the automobile manufacturer posted its highest-ever quarterly growth of 34 per cent, in comparison to the year-ago period. Mini India also reported its highest-ever monthly sales in December 2020. "Mini was born out of a crisis. It's a bold and daring brand that is authentic, inventive and optimistic by nature. It brings people and communities together even in the most extraordinary times. And in an unprecedented year, it has proven this once again. Mini India increased its overall segment share and grew by 34 per cent in the last quarter, which is commendable in the current scenario," BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah said. Mini India launched four new limited edition models in 2020 - the Mini Clubman Indian Summer Red Edition, the Mini 60 Years Edition, the Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition and the Mini John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition. The automobile manufacturer claims that three of these limited edition models were exclusively launched online and sold out within a few days. Also, Mini India introduced the Mini online shop in 2020. The customers can explore the entire Mini range, configure a model of their choice, locate the nearest dealer, request for a test drive or quotation, calculate the EMI and book a car via the Mini online shop. At present, Mini India's product portfolio includes the Mini 3-door Hatch, Mini John Cooper Works, Mini Convertible and Mini Countryman. "True to its genes, Mini managed to innovate and adapt swiftly by offering a complete online journey to its customers with the introduction of the Mini Online Shop. From here on, Mini will continue to gather momentum and serve its customers with products and experiences that are progressive and unique," Pawah added. The cumulative car sales of BMW Group India (BMW and Mini) stood at 6,604 units in 2020.
