After the first Russian vaccine named Sputnik V, the second Russian solution: EpiVacCorona, patented in September 2020, would be 100% effective, according to the health authorities of that country.

“The efficacy of the vaccine consists of its immunological and preventive efficacy. According to the results of the first and second phase of clinical trials, the immunological efficacy of the EpiVacCorona vaccine is 100% ”, according to a press release delivered by Rospotrebnadzor.

EpiVacCorona guarantees immunity against coronavirus for at least 6 months, its creators reported. Apparently it can be administered on several occasions and does not cause allergic reactions, as established in tests with animals and people, since it has been made from artificially synthesized particles of the new coronavirus.

"About 1,000 people have received this vaccine in the framework of clinical trials and all the volunteers feel fine," said Russian health chief Anna Popova last December.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Alekseevna Golikova noted that unlike the first Russian Sputnik V vaccine, which is a vector vaccine, produced on the basis of adenovirus, the new vaccine was created on the basis of one of the promising synthetic platforms, it is a peptide vaccine, consists of short fragments of artificially synthesized viral proteins called peptides, through which the immune system learns and subsequently recognizes and neutralizes the virus. I must say that the vaccine has a high enough level of safety ”.

According to TASS media, the phase I and II studies tested the safety, side effects, and immunogenicity of the potential vaccine in 100 people ages 18 to 60.

The company that made EpiVacCorona, Vector's State Research Center for Virology and Biotechnology in Russia, began testing in November last year.

The news of the effectiveness of the EpiCavCorona vaccine comes a day after Russia began its massive vaccination campaign. Meanwhile, without knowing the maximum effectiveness of this vaccine, the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, has already received the Sputnik V vaccine.
