Determinan que uno de los síntomas del coronavirus puede manifestarse en la lengua

One of the "less common" warning signs of covid may be developing in the mouth, according to Professor Tim Spector, who runs the UK-developed ZOE Covid Symptom Study app, according to a post on the Express website.

About 20 percent of all patients exhibit signs that are not on the government's official coronavirus symptom list, the expert said.

Any new skin rash or mouth ulcer could also be caused by covid-19, he added, further noting that some patients may develop something they have called 'covid languages.'

"One in five people with covid still has less common symptoms that are not on the official list, such as skin rashes," Professor Spector tweeted.

"Seeing increasing numbers of covid tongues and weird mouth ulcers. If you have a weird symptom or even just a headache and fatigue, stay home!" He added.

He included a picture of a covid tongue patient, showing white spots all over the tongue. Some people have compared the appearance of the Covid tongue to another condition, known as geographic tongue.

The latter is an inflammatory condition that affects the surface of the tongue. It also causes patches to develop throughout the language that appear similar to a map.

Is this condition serious?
While the condition may seem alarming, it is completely harmless and usually resolves on its own within a few days or weeks.

But if you develop the covid tongue along with any of the three major symptoms of coronavirus, you should get tested for covid immediately.

The three symptoms to look out for include a high fever, a new and ongoing cough, or a loss of taste or smell.

Most people who are infected with coronavirus develop at least one of these warning signs. If you test positive for covid, you must isolate yourself for at least 10 days, says the specialist.
