EvKirito Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 A repair ordered by the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd) caused this Sunday morning the closure of the elevated John F. Kennedy Avenue, at the height of Doctor Defilló Avenue, which caused an unusual blockage in that area, at a time when citizens have few hours to transit through the curfew that causes the COVID-19 emergency. The traffic jam occurred in the direction of the Olympic Center and caused the deviation of cars under the elevated. From 6:00 in the afternoon of Saturday, the Caasd carries out a work of splicing of the line of 60 doses in the area of the elevated, according to informed the engineer present in the work. In the case of the John F. Kennedy Avenue elevated, a crane, two engineers and a group of workers were mobilized to carry out the splicing work, which sought to cut the passage to the elevated, where several containers and posters of corporation signage. There were no agents from the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transport (Intrant) or the General Directorate for Traffic Safety and Land Transport (Digesett) directing the circulation at the entrance to the elevated. Bad traffic circulation Traffic slowed down since the early hours of Sunday morning, mainly at the traffic light that connects with Avenida Doctor Defilló. The engines moved along the sidewalks avoiding traffic jams in the area. Meanwhile, the public transport cars that run along the Calventi route, along John F. Kennedy Avenue, circulated with a little more difficulty than usual. "The traffic is fine, it is only the stopper here, but the good thing is that on Sunday the route is faster to run," said Genaro Medina, driver of a public car. For two years, Medina has been a driver in the area on the Calventi route and on Sundays it takes approximately half an hour to cover the entire route. That period of time was not significantly affected despite the traffic jam. 2
