#Steeven.™ Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 As many of you know, IONIQ was launched as Hyundai's electric vehicle brand in 2020. So far we have seen the odd prototype of this young EV division, but not a definitive model. Well, the truth is that now we have not seen it in full either, but we do have some interesting teasers of the new IONIQ 5 and some new information. The IONIQ 5 will be the first model to use Asian manufacturer Hyundai Motor Group's Global Electric Modular Platform, also known as the E-GMP platform. But first of all, the brand has affirmed that its world presentation will be virtual and will take place during the next month of February 2021. Part of the model design can be seen in the preview images that accompany these paragraphs. There is no doubt that IONIQ intends to carry an aesthetic language that is quite different from Hyundai. This mid-size crossover has very strong features and, honestly, we want to see it fully and live, because it looks very good. Its headlights, taillights, 20-inch wheels and careful design, the shell-shaped bonnet that covers the entire width of the front or the curious grille stand out. In addition, and as you can see in the teaser, it will use virtual mirrors, such as the Honda e or the Audi e-tron. Of course, it is probably optional. “Beginning with IONIQ 5, our dedicated BEV line brand will redefine the relationship between people and their cars, setting a new standard by which all BEV design experiences will be measured,” stated the Center's Senior Vice President and Director. of Hyundai Global Design. 3
