EvKirito Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 There are 17 days left for people to renew their tag and once this period has passed the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) will charge surcharges to those who did not do it on time. The sanction established by the DGII for not renewing in the established period is 2,000 pesos, but 2,100 pesos must pay those who did not renew in 2019 and 3,100 pesos those who did not renew in 2018 and previous years. The motor vehicle traffic tax must be paid annually and takes place during the last quarter of each year. Given the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tax amounts did not increase. For vehicles manufactured until 2015, the cost is RD $ 1,500 and from 2016 onwards it is RD $ 3,000. On this occasion, the renewal opposition does not apply to vehicles that have traffic fines that have not been paid. The DGII recalled this Tuesday that the renewal of the online tag will be done this Friday, January 15. After that date, the renewals must be made through the window at the authorized institutions. To date, 827,450 tags have been renewed for a collection of RD $ 1,374,337,500. 84% of these processes were carried out online through financial entities, 12% on the DGII portal, and 4% in localities of the collecting institution. This season there are 1,449,952 vehicles available for renewal. The estimated collection is RD $ 2,343,717,450. The DGII called on vehicle owners to renew their tag in time to avoid surcharges. 3
