#Steeven.™ Posted January 11, 2021 Posted January 11, 2021 Jeep has just introduced the new generation of one of its most iconic models, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. At the moment, the American firm has presented a long body of this large SUV, which has up to 7 seats in three rows of seats. This elongated body, named as Jeep Grand Cherokee L will not be available in our market. However, a shorter variant will arrive, although to see it on our streets we will have to wait until the end of this year, or the beginning of 2022. It is clear that it is a very large model. So much so that its total length amounts to 5.2 meters. Almost nothing! But the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L is much more than a large 7-seater car. It is a luxurious model with very good offroad capabilities, also with the latest technologies in every way. Elegance and robustness go hand in hand Aesthetically it is a car that feels powerful and very elegant. On the front there is no lack of the seven vertical stripes characteristic of the brand, combined with a new LED headlight. In addition, it inherits some features of the recently introduced Jeep Wagoneer; another model with a long history in the brand. On the side, its straight lines are striking, including square-shaped wheel arches to accommodate large wheels. The front doors do not lack the Grand Cherokee inscription, as is tradition. We must also remember that the wheelbase of this L body exceeds 3 meters, with 3,091 mm specifically. Although it is not a revolution in design, the back has its leading role. We see marked and straight shapes, giving great importance to the LED lights that cover their area in the gate, but also in a good part of the rear wings. In the lower corners are the integrated exhaust outlets. Quality, technology and a lot of space At the beginning of this article we commented that it is a luxurious, elegant model with a lot of technology. This is perfectly reflected in the cabin. Jeep ensures that the quality is very high, and from what we see in the images, at least in appearance, it is very successful. In the central area of the dashboard is the main infotainment screen with the Uconnect 5 system, which has a diagonal of 10.1 inches. On the other hand, the instrument panel is totally digital, being a configurable 10.25-inch screen. The entire part of the center console is new. Aesthetically it is very attractive, attractive and elegant, but the negative point is that it has a lot of shiny black material. And you know what this means: that it will be dirty most of the time. We most like the possible wood panels and the different shades that can be selected for the cabin. Off-road features But we are talking about a Jeep Grand Cherokee, so we have to focus on its capabilities. According to the American company, this Grand Cherokee L can have 30.1 degrees, 22.6 and 23.6 in the entry, ventral and exit angles respectively. Of course, as long as we opt for the Quadra-Lift variable air suspension. The Quadra-Lift suspension works automatically, and can also be controlled from the center console. It has 5 height settings. One normal, two for offroad, a park mode to facilitate entry and exit of the vehicle, as well as an Aero mode that reduces height when driving at high speed, thus improving stability. But all of the above would be of little use without a good traction system. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L has three 4 × 4 drive systems, which are Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Trac II with eLSD self-locking rear differential. All three systems are equipped with an active transfer case to improve traction by distributing torque to the wheel with the most grip. Engines and driving assistants As for the engines, it is available with two different options: a V6 and a V8. The entry is the 3.6-liter V6, which declares 290 hp and 348 Nm of torque. For those who demand more performance, the 5.7-liter V8 delivers 357 hp and 528 Nm of torque, also with active cylinder deactivation. If we talk about security, there are many more assistants and systems than in the predecessor generations. To name a few, you can count on Active Driving Assist (autonomous driving Level 2), night vision camera, Head Up Display, intersection collision detector, fatigue detection, traffic sign recognition, 360 degree vision camera, rear emergency, adaptive cruise control, blind spot control and many more. 3
