Chevrolet sigue con el desarrollo de la nueva generación de la Tornado

In Brazil, Chevrolet is celebrating. Not only because it has just been crowned as the leading brand in sales in that country, but because it was confirmed that the investment of almost USD 2 billion is still standing, after having been put on hold due to the pandemic. What will be done with this money? Although the brand still did not give details about the project and limited itself to saying that it is a "strategic investment for the development and production of new vehicles, in addition to expanding the equipment offer, including the exclusive OnStar and native Wi-Fi" It is known that one of the objectives will be the so-called “Twins Project”, which consists of producing a new generation of the Tornado pickup (there known as Montana) and the Spin minivan under the GEM platform (already used by Onix)

As far as is known, the new Chevrolet Tornado will grow considerably in size and will no longer be in the lower part of the segment to go on to compete against rivals such as Renault Oroch and Volkswagen Tarok. In other words, it would transfer the entire Onix and Tracker philosophy to the world of pickups. Thus, we can expect that under the hood are the same turbocharged engines of thes

On the other hand, the new Spin might be heavily reconfigured to compete against, for example, Suzuki XL7. Something that would not cost much, since today we have the Spin ACTIV, which combines practicality with a slightly more robust aesthetic.

It is almost certain that the new Tornado will arrive in Mexico in due course. However, the Spin, like Onix, could end up becoming a new global model. But of course, the answers will be given in time.
