EvKirito Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 The November Google Camera update has disabled the ability to take astrophotographs with the wide angle lens on the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G. The astrophotography mode is available for Google mobiles from Pixel 3 within the 'night vision mode', and allows you to take pictures of the night sky, with a fairly successful result that allows you to capture the stars. In the case of the latest models in the range, Pixel 5 and 4a 5G, it allows to go to the wide angle lens of 107 degrees when a 6x zoom is reached. The v.8.1 update of the Camera that Google distributed in mid-November has disabled the possibility of switching to the wide-angle lens with astrophotography, as reported by the 9to5Google portal. Thus, when the user tries to zoom and look for the lens change, the screen displays the message, "Zoom 1x for astrophotography", since the option that appeared with the 6x zoom has disappeared. The company has an update on its Support page, where it explains that, in the aforementioned devices, "astrophotography only works when you are using a zoom of 1x or higher". 1
