EvKirito Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 The Moroccan Ministry of Health today launched the 'Wiqaytna' application to be installed on mobile phones on a voluntary basis in order to track the spread of the coronavirus among the po[CENSORED]tion. The department explained that users have to register in the application and leave the bluetooth connection of their mobile phones open to receive a notification in case of physical proximity with another infected user, provided that the latter has also downloaded the application. This same notification reaches the specialized teams of the Ministry of Health simultaneously, which allows them to carry out an assessment of the risk of spreading the virus and, if necessary, contact the person concerned. According to the Moroccan authorities, this project, carried out by Moroccan engineers in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, aims to limit infections, minimize the circulation of the virus and guarantee rapid medical intervention to protect lives and preserve the health system. The application, which will notify the physical proximity to those infected in the last 21 days after contact, has the authorization of the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP). The epidemiological situation in Morocco is controlled (with 7,819 infected, of which 205 have died and 5,754 have been cured), and almost half of the country's provinces declared themselves free of the virus in recent days. 1
