In the second bulletin issued this Friday by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) it was specified that of the total accidents, 50 occurred on streets and avenues, and the other 40 on highways and highways. Of the total, 74 involved motorcycles, 19 occurred in light vehicles and there were three collisions. Juan Manuel Méndez García, director of the COE, indicated that, of the deceased, only eight occurred within the operation, which ended with some 61 intoxicated by alcohol, including a child under 17 years of age, plus another 43 affected by food poisoning. The provinces that have reported the most cases are Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal and La Vega. During the operation, whose first phase runs from 2:00 in the afternoon of last Wednesday, December 23 to 6:00 in the afternoon of this Friday, the relief agencies carried out some 7,050 assistance at the national level and for different reasons. Méndez García cited 3,288 road assistances and another 3,802 doctors. It reported cases of drivers with damaged lights, broken windows and mirrors, and more than 700 tires in poor condition, which forced the intervention of the Military and Police Commission (Comipol).
