#Steeven.™ Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 The electric offensive at Mercedes-Benz has no turning back. Daimler AG wants to be at the forefront in the premium segment and this implies agility in the development and launch of products. It is for this reason that in its "Ambition 2039" plan it makes it very clear that it will offer a "CO2 neutral" fleet in less than 20 years. This ambitious goal will only be possible by incorporating hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions to its extensive portfolio. They took the first step to do so long ago by establishing the new Mercedes EQ sub-brand. Behind her are products such as the EQC (manufactured in Bremen and Beijing) and the EQV (assembled in Vitoria - Spain). Well, this new division will host six new launches which, by 2022, will make its range consist of eight EQ versions. And it is not the only thing that they have announced, because we already know when the first one will be presented. Mercedes-Benz will present the new EQA on January 20, 2021 As announced by Mercedes-Benz on January 20 we will meet the new EQA. This electric SUV, which is technically related to the GLA, will be manufactured in the Rastatt center. Later, units will also leave the factory that the German firm has in Beijing (Beijing Benz Automotive Co). The second novelty comes from the hand of the new EQB, which in its case will be manufactured in the Kecskemét (Hungary) and Beijing centers. In third place will come the Mercedes EQE. The battery-powered version of the E-Class is scheduled for the second half of 2021 and will be manufactured in Bremen and Beijing. At a technical level, it will be supported by the EVA platform, which will also give life to the EQS. Precisely this model will be official in the first half of 2021. It will leave the «Factory 56» in Sindelfingen (Germany) and is called to compete against the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan. Returning to the fashion segment we have the EQE SUV and EQS SUV. Both derive from their respective versions of the saloon body, although with a more muscular image. Its arrival will take place from 2022 although its production will be located in America. This is because this continent will be their main market and for this, they will carry out the adaptation of the assembly line that they have located in Tuscaloosa (USA). Considering the offensive that Mercedes-Benz is preparing, it seems that its rivals are lagging somewhat behind. We will have to see the response of Audi and BMW, although the latter is already shaping its launch calendar. But be careful, we cannot lose sight of Lexus or Jaguar with their new proposals. 4
