[Auto] Fras-le Stands Out in Exports of Auto Parts

CAXIAS do SUL, SERRA, Brazil –  Among the vehicle and auto parts companies in Rio Grande do Sul, Fras-le, headquartered in Caxias do Sul, Serra, was recognized during the 48th edition of the Export Award RS, as a leading supplier of goods to foreign markets.

The company, which markets its products to more than 120 countries, is considered to be one of the largest suppliers of friction materials in the world.

In 2019, exports from the company’s Brazilian units reached $89.3 million. This represents an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the previous year. In the last five years, between 2015 and 2019, Fras-le has an annual growth rate of approximately 4.9 percent.

The positive performance of the company’s exports last year to North America was one of the main factors for achieving these values. The volumes negotiated with the countries of that region represent about 62.5 percent of the company’s total.

Last year, other important regions underperformed when compared to previous years, influenced by local demand and economic factors. These included South America, which closed 2019 representing 19.5 percent of exports, and the region consisting of Africa and the Middle East, which corresponds to 9.5 percent.

Sales to Europe, Central America and the Caribbean and to the Asia and Oceania region, represent 4.6 percent, 2.3 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively.

Fras-le is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of friction material and an important supplier of auto parts, serving the assemblers and replacement segments. The company develops, produces and markets products for automobiles, motorcycles, heavy vehicles, aviation, as well as for the railway and industrial lines.

It is the unit of Randon Companies with the largest presence outside Brazil, with units in the United States, China, Argentina, Uruguay and India. In all, it has nine industrial plants, five distribution centers, six sales offices and a team trained to serve customers in more than 120 countries on five continents, offering more than 14,000 references in auto parts solutions.

The company is also a leader in the aftermarket and makes products with the quality of the original part available to consumers through the brands Fras-le, Lonaflex, Fremax and Controil. With the recent acquisition of Nakata Automotiva, it expanded the product portfolio with suspension, steering and powertrain items.It also has one of the most advanced research centers in Latin America: the Randon Technological Center. The CTR is an engineering hub in an area of 90 hectares that has 20 types of tracks, totaling 15 kilometers, for the development of various tests, as well as a structural laboratory, complete technical and electronic support and areas for co-creation and product innovation. .
