The Extreme E, a competition category for electric off-road cars, continues to take shape for its inaugural season to be held next year and in the last few days the teams carried out the only official test before starting action in 2021. According to the Jalopnik media, eight of the nine teams that will compete next year carried out a pre-season test at the Aragon circuit in Spain where they traveled different dirt tracks. In this way, the pilots were able to test the more than 500 horsepower that these electric vehicles have in conditions similar to those they will experience in the official season. Names such as Sébastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz, world Rallycross champions Johan Kristoffersson, Timmy Hansen and Mattias Ekström, the protagonists of the Dakar Rally Cristina Gutiérrez and Laia Sanz, the W Series champion Jamie Chadwick and the rally champion Australian Molly Taylor, among others, stood out at the event. “We have been working towards this day for more than two years. The dream is finally becoming a reality and it has certainly been a proud moment to see such a talented group of drivers all together. This championship has one of the strongest driver lineups on the planet, ”said Alejandro Agag, CEO and founder of the race. The Extreme E calendar begins in March of next year, if something unforeseen due to the coronavirus does not occur, in the so-called Desert XPrix in Saudi Arabia. In that place, the competitors will start what they hope to become one of the most important electric vehicle competitions in the world, alongside Formula E.
