[News] Municipality of Quito prohibits the burning of puppets and issues new vehicle and commercial restrictions until January 2, 2021

In order to avoid crowds during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Municipality of Quito, through a resolution, resolved to apply new biosecurity measures between December 15, 2020 and January 2, 2021.

At the national level, Ecuador registers 204,249 confirmed cases of COVID-19 through detection by PCR tests. In Quito, 67,226 cases have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.

Specialists warn that the Christmas festivities could increase cases in the first weeks of 2021, which is why they have asked citizens to avoid meetings or minimize the risks of contagion. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the use of masks during family gatherings at Christmas and at the end of the year.

Among the measures that the Municipality will apply is the suspension from December 16 to January 2 of the marketing and sale of pyrotechnics in the metropolitan district. Also restrict the burning of puppets or figures of any material in addition to balloons with flammable material from December 15 to January 1.

The penalty for non-compliance with these provisions will be $ 100, in case of recurrence it will be doubled.

Other provisions are the prohibition of marketing and sale of alcoholic beverages in the Metropolitan District of Quito, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on the days: December 24, 25, 30 and 31, 2020 and January 1 2021. The penalty is $ 200.

 

Vehicular circulation
The Municipality of Quito temporarily modified the vehicle restriction plan Hoy Circula with the following schedule:

*Thursday, December 24, the digits of the plates circulate: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0 throughout the day.
*Friday, December 25, the digits of the plates circulate: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 throughout the day.
*Saturday December 26, the digits of the plates circulate: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0 throughout the day.
*Thursday, December 31, the digits of the plates circulate: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0 throughout the day.
*Friday, January 1,, the digits of the plates circulate: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 throughout the day.
*Saturday January 2, all digits circulate without restriction.

 

Regarding the days, Sunday, December 27, 2020 and Sunday, January 3, 2021, circulation will not be restricted at any time. While on Monday the 21st, Tuesday the 22nd, Wednesday the 23rd, Monday the 28th, Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th of December, the restriction and usual schedule of Circular Today is maintained.
