EvKirito Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Pedro G. Briceño Santo Domingo, RD The Chosen One last night maintained his full control over the downcast Tigres del Licey. Wilkin Castillo hit a single that broke a 0-run tie in the tenth and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. followed up with a long double with the bases loaded for the Lions to shut out Licey 4-0 in a clash at Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium. After this shutout, now the scarlet pitching has left the Licey in just one round in the last 19 innings, in which the Blues only scored in the first inning of the previous match. The pitchers of both teams had been involved in a pitching duel until the tenth inning when the red bats exploded against the Licey relay, which again cannot do the job. In the 10th, Dany Jiménez transferred Joseph Rosa, who moved to third on a single by Estevan Florial to left field. With runners on the corners, Frank Garcés came in to pitch pinch-hitter Wilkin Castillo, who hit the center-back unstoppably to push Rosa to the plate. Against Robinson Leyer, a bases loaded double by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. into the right field safety zone drove in another three for the Reds. Scarlet starter David Kubiak threw 5.2 innings, in which he struck out seven opponents and walked two without allowing a run, but came out without a decision. Kubiak was relieved by Rhiner Cruz (0.1), Andrés Núñez (2.0), Steven Wilson (1.0) and Samuel Adames (1.0), who allowed no hits to the Blues. The victory went to Wilson (2-0) and the setback went to Jiménez (1-1). After the game, the Lions are 14-12, and the Tigers 8-13. 1
